Remember how I told you about the beach experience on my trip to Pondicherry in part 1 of this post? I still remember how I always wanted to go to the beach whenever I visited my uncle in Chennai as a kid.

One major change I have seen over these long years is that beaches are now more crowded and polluted, especially in the evenings. Although saddening, the best part is you can still visit the hidden beaches listed below.

Andhra Pradesh

1. Uppada Beach

Located near Kakinada, Uppada Beach is a lengthy and broader coastline with golden sands. The soft waves and calm atmosphere make it an ideal spot for a peaceful beach experience, unlike most crowded beaches with monstrous waves. And that sets this beach apart from the famous list.Ā 

How to Get There:Ā Uppada Beach is approximately 20 kilometres from Kakinada. You can reach Kakinada by road or rail and use the local transport to reach the beach.

2. Manginapudi Beach

Manginapudi Beach, near Machilipatnam, is known for its unique black soil and mild waves. The beach also has natural mineral springs, providing an unusual and unique coastal experience. Also, the less-explored nature of Manginapudi set this out as a beach with geological and healing traits.Ā 

How to Get There:Ā Machilipatnam is the nearest town from which you can easily access Manginapudi Beach by road from Machilipatnam.

Odisha

3. Chandipur Beach

Chandipur Beach is well-known for its impressive tidal change, where the sea reduces up to 5 kilometres during low tide, exposing the ocean floor. Known as the "vanishing sea" phenomenon during low tide, this creates an active and ever-changing coastal place. Yet, people dug it the least.Ā 

How to Get There:Ā Chandipur is well-connected by road and rail. The nearest airport is in Bhubaneswar. Local transport, including taxis and buses, is available from nearby cities to reach Chandipur Beach.Ā 

4. Talasari Beach

Near Balasore, Talasari Beach is known for its calm environment, with a jaw-dropping intersection of river and sea. The scenic casuarina trees along the beach make this coast even more attractive, while more tourists wonder at the muddy waters joining the blue waters and becoming blue.Ā 

How to Get There:Ā Balasore is the nearest town, and you can access Talasari Beach by road. The nearest railway station is in Balasore, and the closest airport is in Bhubaneswar.

West Bengal

5. Bakkhali Beach

Bakkhali, situated in South 24 Parganas, is known for its unspoiled beauty and tranquillity. The long stretch of clean beach with the nearby Henry's Island makes it an ideal relaxation spot after a long and tiring work week. Although this area has more benefits, being less explored sets it apart.Ā 

How to Get There:Ā You can reach Bakkhali by road from Kolkata, roughly 125 kilometres away. Buses and taxis are available from the state's capital to Bakkhali.

6. Mandarmani Beach

Mandarmani features a large and relatively unexplored beach near Digha, with shallow waters, making it suitable for various water activities. The beach gives a quiet and remote atmosphere, letting you enjoy the whole beach doing things you love without some stranger controlling you.Ā 

How to Get There:Ā Digha is the nearest town accessible by road. The closest railway station is in Contai, about 15 kilometres away.

Goa

7. Kakolem Beach (Tiger Beach)

Also known as Tiger Beach, Kakolem is a hidden paradise surrounded by towering cliffs. Its clean and untouched nature makes it an ideal spot for those seeking a peaceful place to escape the crowded world and remain in nature at every angle you turn while trekking to the beach feels WOW.Ā 

How to Get There:Ā Kakolem is accessible by road, but reaching the beach involves a short trek down the cliffs. You can hire local transport or use private vehicles to get to the point of trekking.Ā 

8. Butterfly Beach

While most other beaches are unique in sand and waters, Butterfly Beach in South Goa sets itself apart in many ways - the presence of butterflies, the scenic Arabian sea views due to the boat-only access, and being the least visited coast. All these contribute to creating a peaceful setting.Ā 

How to Get There:Ā Reach Palolem Beach or Agonda Beach by road. Then, hire a boat to Butterfly Beach. Boat services are typically available at these neighbouring beaches.

Things To Do on Beaches

You can do many things on beach shores, especially in the not crowded beaches like the ones listed above. Below are a few things in continuation to part 1 to make your beach experience more peaceful and memorable.Ā 

- Nature Walks: Explore the coastal flora and fauna by walking along the shoreline. It's the best time to explore the local area and focus on your life more privately and clear cobwebs in your thinking.Ā 
- Bonfire and Stargazing: Check if beach bonfires are allowed and enjoy a cosy evening by the fire while stargazing. Create the best memories of your life with your friends, cousins, or a valentine.Ā 
- Reading: Bring a good book and enjoy reading while listening to the soothing sound of the waves. It is one of the best feelings you can ever feel. Test it for yourself if you do not trust me.Ā 

Safety Measures

No matter how calm the beaches are, they can sometimes become monstrous, not just in the waves but also in personal aspects. Check out these steps in continuation to part 1.Ā 

- Stay Hydrated: Bring water to stay hydrated, especially in hot weather. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption, as it can contribute to dehydration.
- Protect Against the Sun: Use sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and stay in the shade during peak sunlight hours to avoid sunburn and heatstroke.
- Know Emergency Procedures: Train yourself with the location of lifeguard stations and emergency exits. Have a plan in case of crises.
- Avoid Hazardous Activities: Risky activities like cliff jumping or diving into unknown waters can lead to injuries or accidents.
